Gale Force Winds In The South - UK Storm - 12th December 2014

12th December 2014

Winds have begun to pick up in the South of England and South Wales, as another weather system crosses the south of the Country.  Winds are expected to pick up further through the night, with gusts of 50 - 60mph inland, and as high as 70 - 80mph on the coast.  It will be a relatively short period of strong winds, dying out early on Friday morning. But there is still risk of a few fallen trees, broken fences, and disruption to travel and power supplies.

The Met office have a Yellow warning of wind which reads...

Southwesterly gales, severe along some coasts, and accompanied by a short spell of heavy rain, are expected to affect parts of southern England, south Wales, the south Midlands and East Anglia overnight and into the first part of Friday, before easing during the morning. Winds will briefly gust to 50 or 60 mph inland, most likely across southern England, and may reach 70-75 mph in some exposed coastal districts.
