The river Thames has burst it's banks at West Oxford putting many homes and businesses in danger of flooding. Flooding started on the 7th of January and today it is reported that water levels are expected to rise further.
Today it has been reported that a cyclist has died attempting to ride through flood waters on the outskirts of Oxford. A man in his 70's had been riding along Godstow Road, which runs from Wolvercote in north east Oxford to the rural village of Wytham when he ran into difficulties. The exact cause of death, whether by drowning, an injury after a fall, has not yet been disclosed.
