Yellow weather warning of ice

Yellow weather warning of ice for parts of Scotland and North West England.

The Met office have issued a Yellow weather warning of ice for most of Scotland and North West England on the morning of the 23th March.

Areas affected are Central, Tayside & Fife, Grampian, Highlands & Eilean Siar, North East England, North West England, SW Scotland, Lothian Borders, Strathclyde and Yorkshire & Humber.

The weather warning is in force until 9am on Sunday 23rd.

Icy patches are expected to develop overnight where wet surfaces, the result of continuing wintry showers, freeze under clear skies. The public should be aware of possible disruption to travel due to icy surfaces on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

The Met Office chief forecaster said...

Showers of rain and sleet, with some falling as snow over higher routes, will continue to wet surfaces during Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Clear spells between showers are then expected to lead to a frost and icy patches forming locally. The showers are expected to fall as snow over the highest routes which could bring temporary accumulations of 1 to 4cm, particularly for northern parts in the central and northern Highlands.
