Moon Halo 2nd and 3rd February 2015. Pictures

3rd February 2015

Did you see the moon halo last night? A rare phenomena caused by tiny ice crystals in cirrus clouds, 20,000 feet or more above our heads, causes an apparent halo around the moon when viewed from the ground.

Tonight, 3 February 2015, conditions are expected to be just right once again to view the spectacular sight, if of course, there are no rain or snow clouds at a lower level, obscuring the view.

Last night we were lucky enough to get a perfect view of the halo and managed to get two great photos.

Many other people around the UK reported seeing the halo and many took to social networks such as Twitter and Facebook to post photos, many of which are quite spectacular.

Did you manage to capture any photos of the moon halo last night? Would love to see them. Feel free to post any of your photos on our Facebook page.

Don't forget to keep your eye out for another possible moon halo tonight, for more updates on this follow us on Facebook.
