Storm Expected In Northern Ireland and Scotland Thursday 19th December

15th December 2013
Warning No Longer In Effect

The Met office have issued a Yellow weather warning of strong winds  for Northern Ireland and Scotland for the morning of the 19th December.  Winds are likely be accompanied by heavy rain for a time.

Winds of up to 80mph are possible so there could once again be some disruption to travel, and large waves could cause overtopping in coastal locations.

The winds will be caused by a low pressure system passing by the North West of the UK, one of a series of low pressure systems that has made it's way across the Atlantic this week.

This is the low pressure system reported this weekend by the Weather Channel, who's Chief Meteorologist, Leon Brown named it Storm Emily and reported that it will affect Southern parts of the UK.  There are no weather warnings for the South of England on Thursday at the moment.

For Northern Ireland and Scotland, this could be a significant winter storm, bringing travel disruption and coastal flooding. For regular updates visit our Facebook page, click the 'Like' button and then click the 'Follow' button. Updates will then appear in your Facebook news feed.
