The attractions include the hugely popular Moonta Mines Tourist Train, a highly entertaining 50 minute guided tour around the State Heritage mining area. The ever popular Moonta Mines Sweet Shop, stocking a wide variety of old fashioned sweets and English lollies. It's a must visit attraction for the whole family to enjoy. The Moonta Mines Museum is based in the old Moonta Mines Model School and houses an extensive mining museum and many displays depicting the fascinating early pioneering days of Moonta. The Moonta Mines Miner's Cottage is a typical cottage from the early days of the copper mining boom and is lovingly furnished to match the period. The cottage garden is well worth seeing and is a beautiful example of an English cottage garden. The School of Mines houses a medical display and is the home of the Local and Family History Centre. Well worth a trip to revisit the history and heritage of the local area and it's pioneers. There are also heritage walking trails, cemetery tours by arrangement and group bookings by appointment.
