A HEART TO HEART ABOUT YOUR BODY – The Estonian Health Museum’s new permanent exhibition is located in two freshly renovated medieval buildings in Tallinn’s Old Town. The historic buildings create a unique atmosphere and visitor environment, which is perfectly suited to frame the modern anatomy-related permanent exhibition called Talking Frankly about Your Body, on the second floor.
The human body is an integrated system. In order to understand the functioning of the human body, one must understand its origin, composition and structure. The more we know about how our body works the better we know how to take care of it and to appreciate its uniqueness. The rooms on the second floor of the two buildings are theme rooms that thoroughly dissect the human body, by examining all its organ systems. In addition to introducing the multi-layered nature of human anatomy, we also touch on the field of activity related to our bodies and health, such as human evolution, healthy eating and the modern possibilities for diagnosing illnesses. In the new permanent exhibition, we have used many different means of exposition and displays. With a diversity of graphic solutions, in the form of diagrams, wax and plastic anatomical models and real or plastinated organs, a complete picture is given of the inside of the human body.
