Appledore Lodge is a boutique Bed and Breakfast located on the banks of the Waitangi River in the far north of New Zealand. We have four completely different suites to offer, from our romantic and cosy Victoria Room, to the luxurious one bedroomed, totally self-contained Cottage. All suites have sweeping views up and down the Waitangi River. Continental breakfasts are served in the main house dining room, or on gorgeous summer mornings, out on the deck overlooking the river. The outdoor pool is a wonderful spot to unwind with a glass of wine after a day of exploring .
We are an easy 7 minute drive from the beach village of Paihia with all its water sports and trips out into the Bay of Islands. Captain Cook stopped right here in the Bay and the Waitangi Treaty House is the historic spot where the local Maori made an agreement with the British to create the New Zealand we have today. There are 144 islands in the Bay and boat trips out amongst them are favourite pastimes with visitors to the region. Kerikeri is an easy 20 minute drive away and you will find the oldest buildings in New Zealand there, set in an idyllic location on the inlet and amongst swathes of parkland, and forest walks to waterfalls.Cape Reinga is at the furthest point north in New Zealand and trips up there are easy to arrange, either by coach with access to 90 mile beach, or an unforgettable half day trip by plane with overhead views you will never forget.
