Tongariro Facilties
Plateau lodge is the perfect gateway to Tongariro National Park. We are just a short walk from National Park Village, which has a supermarket and petrol station, as well as plenty of bars, cafes and places to hire any adventure equipment you need.

Tongariro Transport
Plateau Lodge operates their own daily transport service into the Tongariro National Park through winter & summer. We have a variety of pick up points in National Park Village, including free parking at our base.

Summer timetable is 7am & 8am departure with a return time of 3.30pm & 5.00pm

Winter timetable is 6.45am departure with a return time of 4.30pm
Tongariro National Park

During summer and winter, Tongariro National Park offers spectacular views of all three volcanoes — covered with either glistening white snow or deep red volcanic rock. There are plenty of ways to enjoy this beautiful dual-heritage national park. There is skiing on Mt Ruapehu, New Zealand’s best one-day hike via the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, the wonderful Tongariro Northern Circuit walk and let’s not forget Ruapehu’s Crater Lake — one of just three like it in the world.
