During the summer months, you are welcome to eat outside on the terrace. It’s a regular sun trap and is the perfect place from which to watch the comings and goings of the factory and the visitor centre.
The tea room serves a range of cooked lunches, sandwiches, hot and cold snacks, and home-baked cakes. Try the special: ‘Tiptree’ Strawberry Conserve with home-made scones and fresh cream, served with the ‘Tiptree’ tea of your choice.
The Tiptree museum is a great place to trace the history of Wilkin & Sons and Tiptree preserves, find out more about village life in Essex, and of course to find out all about jam-making. True, it isn’t the world’s largest museum, but then neither is Tiptree the world’s largest village. Actually we take that back, it IS Britain’s largest village!
