HISTORY: Aster House has rented since 1891!, and under present owners since 1982. We've had guests stay as long as 9 years and return as long as for 18 years, so being that well-established and with that kind of loyalty you may be assured of a pleasant stay -- in fact, most of our tenants are referrals or repeats!
TRANSPORTATION: We're 1/2 - 1 block from the Fullerton subway/el station (Red, Brown & Purple lines), taxicabs, city Divvy bicycles and 4 buses to reach the rest of the city attractions. The Mag Mile, Navy Pier or The Loop are about a 4- 6 minute subway/el ride. For further trips and an easy arrival, we are 1 mile from Lakeshore Drive or Routes 90 and 94.
THE HOUSE: Built in 1891, this totally updated Victorian-style house has a back yard, a covered porch with rockers, and a spacious sun deck with umbrella table, chaises, chairs and charcoal grill.
THE APARTMENT: *Bella's Duplex*, Our bi-level 4 bedroom/2 bath
One flight up from street level with 10' ceilings and individual air conditioners are:
> Entry: coat closet
> Living room: ample seating, cable flatscreen television
> Dining room: seats 8, storage
> Book-filled study: music system, reading chair, desk
> Bathroom: shower over deep soaking tub, linen closet
> Deluxe kitchen: SubZero refrigerator, range, dishwasher, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker
> Sunny dining nook: seats 4 overlooking the garden
> Mudroom with second entrance
For sleeping on this level are 2 standard bedrooms:
`Bedroom #1: full Louis Philippe antique bed, desk, marble-topped dresser, closet, TV/DVD.
`Bedroom #2: 2 vintage single beds, generous storage, desk, dresser, closet
Two flights up from street level with 12' ceilings and central air conditioning are:
> Large marble bathroom entered via beveled-glass doors, 75-gallon tub/shower
> Screened-in balcony: bistro set and glider
> Laundry and storage room
For sleeping on this level are 2 spacious guest rooms:
`Bedroom #3: queen bed, love seat, 10' long dresser, large closet, cable TV with DVD, sound system, mini-fridge, bamboo floors (Note that this room has no actual door, but is hidden behind a 6-panel Chinese screen, and thick terry bathrobes are provided for all Bella guests.
`Bedroom #4: Italian antique bedroom set (queen bed, dresser, 3-door armoire, night tables, armchairs), 2 closets, wall-to-wall carpeting, entered via tall antique French chateau etched glass doors
AMENITIES: Secure high-speed Wifi, cable television, land line phone, guest-controlled air conditioning, storage, and all kitchenware, bedding, towels, iron, hair dryers, etc. -- just bring your toothbrushes!
PARKING: Although a vehicle is not needed, street parking is easy and we can explain local regulations. If available, the garage out back is $20/night for 1 car.
MISCELLANEOUS: The house is NON-SMOKING, tho ashtrays are provided on the porch and sundeck. And so sorry
